Downtown Kingman just had itself a weekend. The I Heart Route 66 Fest took over Lewis Kingman Park on Friday and Saturday, and the whole town felt it. Classic cars, live music, road trippers from all over, all of it happening right on the Mother Road in the middle of the Route 66 centennial year. If you are hunting for things to do in Kingman AZ, this is the festival to circle on the calendar. Plan your trip at 66fest.com.

We loved every minute of it. All weekend we talked Route 66 books with travelers and locals at our Kingman bookstore, and plenty of road trip reading went home in new hands.

Missed the festival? The celebration is still going at the shop. Our shelves are full of Route 66 history books, road trip reads, and Arizona stories all year. Worth the detour.
